Terms and Conditions of funds pledged at TFN events (flagship and SFG)

The Funding Network (“TFN”) is a charity registered in the United Kingdom, charity registration number 1088315. These are the terms and conditions that govern the treatment of funds pledged at any event financially administered by TFN.

  1. Pledged funds should be paid directly to TFN and not to individual grantees.
  2. If the donor is a UK tax payer, TFN will claim Gift Aid on receipt of the funds and a signed Gift Aid declaration which must include the donor’s address. Gift Aid adds 25p for every £1 given.
  3. It is the donor’s responsibility to notify TFN if circumstances change and they are no longer eligible for Gift Aid.
  4. Where funds raised exceed the target amount, the remaining money may be used by the grantee as unrestricted funding.
  5. TFN will deduct a 10% levy on all pledged funds, including any Gift Aid, as a contribution towards the costs it incurs on due diligence, grant processing, donor reporting and statutory compliance.
Example: You pledge £100 to charity “A” and make your payment for your pledge to TFN. TFN claims Gift Aid from HMRC meaning the total donation is £125 on which a 10% levy is applied meaning the amount paid to charity “A” is £112.5 and the amount retained by TFN is £12.50. Every penny you give goes to charity - whether that is one of the presenting charities, or to TFN.
  6. TFN will endeavour to make full payment to grantees within 12 weeks of the event at which they were pledged. Payments will be made in two tranches with the second payment including Gift Aid. This is subject to pledged funds being received by TFN.
  7. Funds pledged will be used by the non-profits for the purpose described in their application and in the pitch at the event, however TFN reserves the right to agree to any such amendments to plans required as a consequence of unforeseen events or changes to circumstance, for example the Covid-19 pandemic. If TFN is of the view that the organisation cannot carry out work with a commensurate impact to that described in the application and at the event, then TFN will contact donors to agree how the pledged funds should be used (e.g. retained by the organisation for a different purpose, transferred to a suitable organisation doing similar work, returned to TFN and used as match funding at a future event or returned to the donor. The latter option will only be available where no funds have been spent.)
  8. 12 months after the event at which funds were pledged, all donors will receive a report on the impact of their funds on the organisation(s) they supported, solicited by TFN.
