YFN & Year Here Crowdbacker 2016
We held our third Young Funding Network (YFN) and Year Here Crowdbacker on 13th June, hosted at the RBS building.
A sold out event, we had an inspiring speaker, Caroline Mason, CEO of the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation. Caroline discussed social enterprise, commenting that they are the ‘building bricks to a fair society’, with funders being the ‘Polyfilla ‘.
We were also treated to impact reports from four Year Here fellows who have received funding at previous Crowdbacker events for their projects, Cracked It, Settle, Birdsong and The Middle Ground.
This year five groups of 2016 Year Here fellows pitched for funding for their innovative new projects, all with social change as their purpose. Fat Macy’s, misc., The Hard Yard, Storeys and Bread and Roses all gave excellent pitches, and more than £14,000 was raised from the audience with Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and UnLtd offering extra support which brought the total to an incredible £50,000! Our generous audience also pledged invaluable advice, resources and time to the five projects as they start up – we can’t wait to see how they progress.
YFN would like to thank Year Here, Natwest, Macquarie Group Foundation for supporting us in holding an incredible Crowdbacker.
