TFN's first northern funder - 27 January
TFN is delighted to be partnering with two community foundations in the North East of England to bring you the first Northern Funder, taking place virtually on 27th January 2022. This event will be an opportunity to look beyond London and provide vital support to coastal and rural areas of the North East. We are grateful to County Durham Community Foundation and Two Ridings Community Foundation for working with us on this event.
We know that the Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated existing divides and increased long-standing inequality. The UK's North-South divide is stark, and coastal and rural areas in particular are often overlooked in favour of larger cities. The North East has the highest percentage of "left behind" areas of anywhere in England according to a 2019 report by OCSI/Local Trust. During the pandemic, people in the North of England had a 17% higher Covid mortiality rate than the rest of the country and experienced a drop in wages, whereas the rest of the country experienced a rise. At the same time, there are many small charities working largely under-the-radar and providing life-changing support to those in need.
We hope you will join us as we take a (virtual) trip to County Durham and North East Yorkshire on 27th January from 6.00-7.30pm. Register your free place here.
