Flamingo Chicks Are Packing Their Bags!
Flamingo Chicks is a dance school based in Bristol dedicated to offering inclusive dance classes for children with visual impairments, Down’s syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, cancer, and other conditions and illnesses. Young Funding Network first funded Flamingo Chicks in 2014, and since then they’ve been working to reach more children and families across the UK and beyond. On Sunday, they’re leaving the banks of the River Avon for Athens in their effort to deliver workshops for unaccompanied minors and children in refugee camps.
It all started when a volunteer at one of the camps got in touch and asked if Flamingo Chicks could go out to help provide physical and wellbeing activities for the children. Bags full of Flamingo Chicks kit in hand, they plan to train up other volunteers based in Athens so even after they’ve gone, they can continue providing sessions and creating much needed opportunities for children to express themselves creatively.
If you’d like to lend a hand, you can support Flamingo Chicks by making a donation here; they'll buy much needed items like sunscreen, sun hats, travel games (for older kids), mosquito repellent, summer kids shoes and small outdoor toys. Any amount will go a long way in helping Flamingo Chicks make the lives of refugee children a little brighter.
