Events and Impact: SFG, Oxford Gives and LGBT+

Its been a busy few weeks at TFN HQ! Here is a wrap-up from our recent events.

In early May, TFN members met for our Spring Strategic Funding Group meeting. We started the night off with a special Impact Report from Tim Pare at Tea Leaf Trust. Tim pitched for support for the Trust's English teaching programme for workers in tea plantations in Sri Lanka last year. We are so pleased to be hearing from Tim again at our upcoming TFN London Summer Funder in June.

At this high impact event, we raised over £52,000 to enable organisational transformation for London Reclaimed to help young people step into employment through training, mentoring and work in their furniture workshop; MAITS, for their international work enhancing healthcare and education services for disabled people; and the Choir with No Name, to support their exciting national expansion plans. Later that week, we came together in beautiful Oxford for our annual Oxford Gives event. The event began with a special talk from Richard Kennell, CEO of SOFEA on their growth since pitching in 2015: “What helps people is helping other people”.

This year's Oxford Gives smashed records to raise over £27,000 to help Blackbird Leys Adventure Playground support local families and children celebrate diversity in their after-school cooking classes; Community Albums use music as a catalyst to enable and inspire young people to build confidence; Universify Education transform the life chances of young people to make education fairer for all; and help drive At The Bus’ idea to improve mental health for children through art therapy on their double-decker bus. Finally, we came together this week with new friends at Consortium and GiveOut, to host City for LGBT+, London’s first live crowdfunding event supporting LGBT+ specific non-profits. We were so pleased to raise over £25,000 for four innovative non-profits driving positive change for LGBT+ individuals and communities. Stay tuned for more news!

We have lots more events coming up including our special Summer Funder at Two Temple Place on 12th June, Crowdbacker with our friends at Year Here on 23rd July, and events in Bristol and Hertfordshire. See the full list and get your tickets here
