YTFN is a new approach to giving
to charity! Instead of asking you to donate to a random charity
and not telling you where your money's going, we invite charities
to pitch specific projects which they require funding for. Then
you, and everyone at the event, can donate towards the project
and help the charity reach its fundraising goal. It will be a
truly rewarding event and will also include a stand of Fairtrade
& ethical products, performers and DJs.
Here is the latest report following our most recent YTFN funding event on March 4th 2009 at The Hub, Islington;
Another success for YTFN!
Reluctant to be outdone by our grown-up counterparts, YTFN managed to pull off another fantastic event. This time we hosted the evening at the Hub, Islington. Some well-placed fairy lights and candles transformed it into a cosy, dynamic space with a very cheap bar (make-shift) and no shortage of delicious cupcakes!
It was a great evening! Around 80 people came along to see our three fantastic projects: SOKO – Kenya, COAP (Children of Addicted Parents) – UK and Vano Vano Tamba – Zimbabwe. The evening was kicked off by feedback from the Choir With No Name (supported at our first event last June) and their inspiring success story helped to set the tone for the rest of the night.
After three engaging and moving presentations people put their hands in their pockets and together we raised a grand total of over £5,000. Needless to say we (and the three charities) are delighted. As one attendee said:
“It was so inspirational to see so many young people so motivated about making a difference.”
And Emma from COAP wrote:
“I really enjoyed the whole evening and was touched by how everyone came to the event after a days work to help raise money to help others, how wonderful!! It was such a great surprise to hear how much was raised on the night for COAP's online counselling service. I want to thank you all so much for your generosity and support, and of course a big thank you to YTFN for arranging the event!”
So, much buoyed by our success, we take on what we have learned and move forwards with enthusiasm! Next event to be announced shortly!
But that's all from us for now. You'll be hearing from us again very soon.
