TFN TORONTO

The Funding Network-Toronto (TFN-TO) has the distinction of being the first North-American chapter of TFN. TFN-TO is pleased to announce that they have raised a total of over $358,000 Canadian dollars with their first five events.

Their next Funding Evening will take place on Wednesday, May 14 , 2008 at 6 pm. The event is being generously hosted by the investment firm ScotiaMcLeod and will be held at the National Club situated in a beautiful, historical building at 303 Bay Street (between King and Adelaide Streets) in Toronto.

The five featured charities selected for the upcoming May 14 event are as follows:

Dyana Afghan Women's Fund - to provide a five level literacy/numeracy diploma program to village women in the Daree foulodi district of Afghanistan. Click here to view project summary.

Hannehowardfund (HHF) - to provide food, shelter, health/medical care and education to the orphans and other vulnerable children of the slums of the Lenana slum outside Nairobi. Click here to view project summary.

Learning Support Council of Canada - to conduct a three week boarding camp for 120 Jamaican students (with Canadian and Jamaican tutors) to provide them with an opportunity to re-write the literacy exam that will enable them to stay in school. Click here to view project summary.

Mpala Mobile Clinic - to establish a facility to make re-usable sanitary products from locally discarded clothing. This facility will create income generating employment while avoiding dependency on expensive imported disposable products as well as enhance the clinic's reproductive health education program. Shenpen Fund Canada - to build an all-weather, indoor dining room for a primary/middle school providing the only education for rural Tibetan girls. Click here to view project summary.
