TFN 'as an exciting concept in charitable giving to small projects
that has been embraced by philanthropists and companies in Bristol'.
Our last funding event, on Wednesday 23rd September 2009 at The Mansion House, Clifton, Bristol, raised an amazing £24,000 for five inspiring projects:
Jamie’s Farm provides residential activities for young people at risk of educational and social exclusion in Bath. Through access to this new environment, along with all the opportunities for physical achievement that living on a farm affords Jamie’s Farm has a positive impact on the most disengaged and vulnerable students. |

|
Travelling Light Theatre Company creates theatre for young people which fires up their imaginations, engages their emotions and gets them to think! Based in one of the most deprived areas of Bristol this theatre company aims to increase confidence and creativity, support transition into adulthood, encourage team work and develop personal and educational growth.
|
Motivation is a small international disability charity based just outside Bristol. Its aim is to create sustainable solutions to help disabled people throughout the developing world. In addition to providing wheelchairs Motivation provide users with independent living skills and health education, reducing isolation and ultimately life-threatening conditions that often result after injury. |

|
Youth Education Service targets ‘hard to reach’ groups providing informal learning opportunities for young people and adults in the Bristol area. From experience they have found that providing travel costs to students encourages regular attendance so funding for this would increase their impact tackling literacy and numeracy levels for those who find adult education classes stigmatizing or too daunting.
|
Pre-primary Education Centres, West Bengal works with mostly Hindus of the dalit (untouchable) caste. Where literacy levels are low and malnutrition is a continuing problem this project aims to give the children of these people some hope for their future. There are 6 centres where the children are encouraged to express their ideas, develop their creativity and take lessons in language, maths, art & craft, dance music and drama. |
Refreshments and a light buffet supper will be provided. There is a £10 charge for attendance and we are very grateful to Triodos Bank, Rathbone Greenbank Investments and Richard & Laura Pendlebury for their support in meeting the costs of the event. |
|
The next event will be held 2010. More details to be relesed soon.
"With the success of the latest Bristol event, the TFN
concept shows no signs of waning just yet. A good turnout of old
and new hands rose together in the intimacy of giving made fun.
And, as ever, the presenting projects proved there is good afoot
in the world. The £20k raised will surely encourage their efforts."
