Farewell to a truly ‘Jolly Good Fellow’
Festive cheer was in plentiful supply as we bade a fond farewell to Fred Mulder and celebrated raising over £4 million for social change projects over 10 years.
We were so pleased that so many people joined us at the Festive Funding Event. It was a fitting send-off to Fred, stepping down as Chair after 10 years at the helm and a great opportunity for a symbolic handover to his successor and long-term TFN supporter Michael Maynard.
From Fred’s heartfelt reflections on his time as Chair to the rousing rendition of ‘For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow’, led by the fabulous London Gay Men’s Chorus, the event was memorable from beginning to end. Many thanks again to our friends at Brunswick and Kingston Smith. As usual, nothing could take away from the impact of the project presentations and we don’t think anyone who was there will forget the message of hope from Orchid Project that harmful rites of passage practices can end within a generation.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the evening so special. Together we raised a total of £54,470 for five inspiring organisations.
- People Who Share will receive £5,201
- Five Talents will receive £11,542
- Tender will receive £11,031
- ColaLife will receive £10,260
- Orchid Project will receive £16,435
These grants will encourage people to share, create groups to encourage micro-entrepreneurs in Kenya, help prevent violence in young people’s relationships, distribute medicines in Africa in an innovative way and coordinate efforts to bring about an end to FGM – quite an achievement for a Thursday night!
Our Twitter feed was buzzing after the event, so thank you to everyone who took to Twitter to share their enjoyment. Here’s a small sample of the good things people had to say:
