FAQs
Can anyone attend a funding event?
Yes, The Funding Network welcomes new people to our events. Anyone can buy a ticket and attend an event to learn and support the charities pitching at an event. We do ask, however, that attendees be at least potential donors now, or in the future.
Do I have to make a donation?
There is absolutely no obligation to give. Our events aim to inspire giving and inform people of great causes where relatively small amounts of money can have a great impact. Some people come along to support charities, some come to give, and some come to find out more. People often find themselves wanting to give once they’ve discovered a great new charity that needs help!
Is The Funding Network just for people who can give lots of money?
No, The Funding Network is for everyone. People of all ages and income levels come along to our events to give what they are able to give. At our Youth TFN events, people give in £10s, while at our regular events people give in £50s and £100s.
Do I have to give in public? I’m very shy…
Giving is very personal and many people find that they enjoy calling out their donations during our pledging sessions. However, anyone who prefers not to do so can either just hand in a donation at the end of the event to one of the TFN team, or contact us in advance so that their pledge can be called out anonymously. Contact Tillie@thefundingnetwork.org.uk for details.
Can any charity turn up to pitch?
No. The charities pitching at events are chosen in advance, after being nominated in by members of The Funding Network and having had their applications evaluated by a Selection Panel.
Can any charity seeking funding be put in touch with TFN members?
No. If you are from a charity seeking funding and you do not know a member of TFN who wishes to propose your organisation, we recommend that a Trustee or unpaid volunteer attend a TFN event with a view to becoming a member. We welcome new members. Please note, however, that TFN always receives more applications than slots available and there is no guarantee that an individual organisation will be chosen to present by TFN’s Selection Panel.
Can anyone become a member?
Yes! We welcome new members to The Funding Network. Members are at the heart of The Funding Network; they nominate charities, evaluate charities, help us to run events, and of course, support the charities at the events.
What is the impact of the funds raised for the different charities?
A year after their donation, donors receive an email update on the impact of the funds received on the charity’s beneficiaries. Often the charities have been able to reach new beneficiaries or trial a new solution to a problem. In addition, at every event a charity funded one year ago presents a brief verbal update on what it has achieved over the past year.
