About the Event
We are excited to announce a new partnership with The British Asian Trust and will be holding our first event with them on 1st March 2012. Coutts have kindly offered to sponsor the event, and it will take place at their wonderful offices on the Strand.
We are really pleased that we will be joined on the evening by The British Asian Trust’s Ambassadors – stars of stage and screen such as Tasmin Lucia Khan, Nihal Arthanayake, Mishal Husain, Ray Panthaki, Hari Dhillon, Laila Rouass and Nitin Ganatra. We will be hosted on the evening by Coutts’ Chairman, The Earl of Home.
The event is a unique collaboration to bring together people interested in supporting local organisations that are transforming lives and communities across South Asia:
Mann Deshi - Provides training and skills leading to livelihoods for illiterate women so they can support their families in rural areas plagued by farmer suicides.
Aangan Trust - Project Shakti supports disadvantaged vulnerable girls and enables them to build their own futures and bring change to their communities.
Basic Needs Pakistan – In partnership with The Pakistan Mental Health Initiative, Basic Needs aims to introduce a sustainable, community-based mental health programme to enable mentally ill people to live and work successfully in their own towns and villages.
Educate Girls- Works to improve the quality of girls’ education in rural Rajasthan to increase social and economic prospects for poor families and communities.
Developments in Literacy – Aims to open doors to quality education for all children, especially girls in remote areas of Pakistan.
