DIRECTOR
ANDREW WADE
I became a director of The Funding Network in 2005, after being
a member for several years. I joined because I read an inspiring
newspaper article about TFN - about how it was doing so much to
make a difference to society, both in the United Kingdom and overseas.
Although I firmly believe there is a place for large charities,
there are many small charities (particularly ones which are recently
formed) which can do an immense amount of good but struggle to raise
funds. This is often because they are at the cutting edge of social
change and have limited track records.
One of the most satisfying aspect of TFN's work is the reports
back by charities on how they spent the grants made to them and
the difference this has made to the lives of their beneficiaries.
In my daily life, I am a solicitor in the City, specialising in
commercial real estate work. I deal with wealthy and powerful institutions.
It is very satisfying, therefore, to be able to assist those less
fortunate in a very direct way - and to know that the help I can
give will make a real difference.
