A Funding Evening...with a Difference!

Are you interested in hearing about a range of solutions to pressing issues and meeting the people tirelessly working towards them?
Would you like the opportunity to back the best solutions with a group of like minded people?
All TFN's events deliver this much, but June 2nd will give you even more. The difference is that all of the projects are being presented by well-known personalities, who are deeply committed to the causes they support.

Whether it's alternative technology, youth empowerment or human rights that you're into, we have a variety of projects spanning many of the world's most under represented communities for you to hear a 6 minute pitch from and then quiz for a further 6 minutes. We'll be hearing solutions to crucial questions, such as:

Can theatre teach young people in Kenya to have a healthy attitude towards sex?
Daniel Craig is an English actor whose role as James Bond shot him to international fame in 2006 and earned him critical aclaim including a BAFTA nomination. His other films include The Golden Compass, Munich and Layer Cake. On the night Daniel will present SAFE:

What's the best way to help survivors of the Rwandan genocide?
Felicity Finch is one of the UK's best loved radio actresses; she has played the character of Ruth in The Archers since 1987. When not in Ambridge she works as a features reporter and presenter for BBC Radio 4. On the night Felicity will present SURF:
This project aims to provide vital equipment for a community centre in Ntarama, Rwanda, providing healthcare and income-generating activities to 3,000 survivors of the genocide. |

Eva Birthistle is an Irish actress who has starred in a variety of films, television dramas and radio plays including Ken Loach's Ae fond Kiss, which won her a London Critics Circle Film Award. On the night Eva will present Student Partnerships Worldwide:

Clive Stafford Smith OBE is the founder of Reprieve and a well respected political writer. His many achievements include receiving the Gandhi International Peace award. He is a Rowntree Visionary and an Echoing Green fellow. On the night Clive will present Reprieve:
This fascinating project aims to complete the build of a database on renditions and secret imprisonment to help Reprieve and other human rights partners analyse research material and represent ghost prisoners held outside the reach of law. |

Is clean technology the path to enlightenment?
Jeremy Leggett is the founder of Solarcentury, the UK’s award-winning and largest independent solar electric company, and the founder and Chair of SolarAid. He was appointed a CNN ‘Principal Voice’ and is described by the Observer as ‘the UK’s most respected green energy boss’. On the night Jeremy will present Solar Aid:
This project brings light, income and electricity to over 2,500 people living in poverty, harnessing the power of the sun to combat climate change and poverty in Africa. |

When we've heard the presentations and mulled them over, we'll have one of our signature pledging sessions. There's absolutely no pressure to give, but if you feel moved by one or more of the projects, it's hard not to get into the spirit of it.
Pledging on the night means that we can all see the totals rise together, and to anyone who thinks their individual actions can't make a difference, well, you've obviously never shared a bedroom with a mosquito.
