The Funding Day was held at RIBA in central London and raised a total of £47,725. The day began with two projects around the Genocide in Rwanda reporting back which provided an inspiring start to the day. There were two notable TFN firsts; our first ever pledge by text message, and our largest ever pledge to one project, £6,000.

  • Baby Milk Action -Campaigns for effective regulation of transnational corporations in their marketing of infant foods to mothers in developing countries which can cause poverty, disease and death. Funds raised will be spent on co-ordinating campaigns, producing publicity materials, participating in seminars and awareness raising. www.babymilkaction.org

  • The Forgiveness Project -Residential workshop for people who have been victims of violence as well as those who have been responsible for violence. Funds were sought to run the 'Healing of Memories' workshop in September this year and to ensure that participants can attend free of charge. A DVD of the process will also be produced which can then be used as an educational tool.www.theforgivenessproject.com

  • Get Well UK -Trying to radically improve access to healthcare in the UK by making integrated healthcare available through the NHS. Funds raised will be used to cover interim core costs while other grant applications are processed and service contracts tendered for. www.getwelluk.com

  • Ethical Property Foundation -Affordable and professional property advice to social change organisations who are finding, leasing or buying property. Funds were sought to launch this service in London and will be spent on research and internet publication of a booklet and a telephone survey to assess the need for this service amongst charitable organisations www.ethicalproperty.co.uk

  • The Mango Tree -Outreach programme, supporting orphans, vulnerable children and their guardians in Tanzania, where 20% of the entire population have HIV. The Mango Tree would like to continue and expand on their work with the funds raised by contributing to the orphans' school fees and paying the salary of a medical officer. TFN funders can also collectively 'adopt' a ward(Ngana) and enable the 272 orphans living there to go to school for two years. www.themangotree.org

  • Eco-village -Water conservation and education work in Bolivia including training young farmers in sustainable farming practices. Funds raised today will be used to pay the facilitators' fees and living expenses, produce training manuals in Spanish, enable communities to paint murals depicting their local eco-system, and develop best practice that can be used around the world.

  • One World Trust -Development of website to further develop and strengthen the links of the Trust with partners and supporters. Funds raised will be used to build a website that will serve as a basis for future fund raising and underpin the effectiveness of the organisation. www.oneworldtrust.org

  • Brazil Women's Prison Pastoral - Aims to improve the conditions for women prisoners in Sao Paulo by investigating and documenting their treatment. Funds were sought to cover all stages of this project from research, flights and living costs to the final printing and publication of the report.

  • The Non-Violent Direct Action Trainers Collective - Aims to provide effective and responsive training for mass non-violent actions in the UK so that people can act for long-term social justice. Funds raised will be used to cover food and travel expenses for trainers and the administrative costs of running the training days. We are piloted this presentation of a non-charitable project. People were invited to fund this project directly, rather than through TFN.
