The Funding Day was held at RIBA in central London and raised a total of £50,829.

  • Brighton Earthship - a pioneering project that has built an exemplar of low-carbon design and construction near Brighton which will be used as a prototype for alternative building practices. www.lowcarbon.co.uk

  • Escorts Foundation - Fuel Efficient Stoves - aims to spread the adoption of the hugely successful home-made fuel-efficient wood stove among women in poor communities of rural Pakistan.

  • Middle East Policy Initiative Forum - aims to establish a web-based clearing-house for an international community of activists and policy-makers in the Middle East peace process.

  • Head and Heart Project - brings together leaders who are active in the peace-building process in Northern Ireland to develop their skills in working with trauma and train them in stress management techniques.

  • Friends United Network - supports vulnerable children from isolated lone-parent families by providing them with trustworthy long-term adult befrienders in Islington and Camden. www.friendsunitednetworkuk.com

  • Shuxojong Tibetan School Project - A self-help project initiated and supported by the local community working to build a boarding school for Tibetan children, living in South west China.

  • Climate Outreach Information Network (COIN) - works to bring about a radical reappraisal of the role and feasibility of low-carbon lifestyles as a means for combating global warming. www.coinet.org.uk

  • Ecologia - Kitezh Children's Community - an innovative alternative approach to the care and rehabilitation of abandoned or orphaned children in Russia. www.ecologia.org.uk

  • Nomad RSI - empowering communities to better manage medicinal plant resources and improve access to complementary healthcare in Ladakh, India. www.nomadrsi.org
