We raised £60,000 and with over 75 people the event had a real buzz to it.

  • Citizen's Humanitarian Liaison centre, Iraq - Setting up a centre in Iraq where people with acute problems, such as disappeared relatives, rape or wrongful arrest can tell a trained interviewer what their problem is and get some help. Sami Velioglu wants to raise funds to drive to Iraq in late March 04 with clothing and more medical supplies. Once there the funds raised will be used to run a six month pilot covering salaries, rent, stationary, computers and building of desks.

  • Working Families - Aims to provide an informative seminar day for 35-50 parents, meeting policy makers and looking at barriers to work and solutions for parents of disabled children. They will use any funds raised to pay for the seminar day and cover; the venue, catering, creche and related staff expenses. www.workingfamilies.org.uk

  • FIELD(The Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development) - Creating a dedicated fund for pro bono legal advice in environmental law for organisations in developing countries. They were seeking funds for their pro bono work that will deal with ad hoc cases in the coming year. www.field.org.uk

  • Naturewise - Promotes Permaculture and forest gardens along with strengthening the London wide network of initiatives in sustainable urban lifestyles and environmental awareness. They were seeking funds to expand their website, produce a booklet on forest gardens in cities, build a database and promote a program of public talks, presentations and permaculture courses. www.permaculture.org.uk

  • Crisis Action - Aims to prevent the UK government making future conflicts worse by strengthening civil society groups in the UK. They were seeking funds to cover their core costs and allow their project coordinator to go full time.

  • Jaipur Limb Campaign - Improves the lives of disabled people in poor countries especially those who have lost limbs through war, accident or disease. The funds raised today will be used to sponsor a disabled Angolan on a years training course in orthotics and will cover his course fees, English lessons, course materials and insurance. www.jaipurlimb.org

  • Prison Radio - Will provide opportunities for active participation in and production of a radio station for prisoners at Wandsworth Prison in South London. Funds will be used to establish a second production studio which will increase participation and could be instrumental in securing funding for a nationwide roll out of other stations in prisons. www.rfd.org.uk

  • Pioneers of Change - Acts as a catalyst for people aged 25-35 from all over the world to make a decisive move into creating social change. Funds raised will go towards the shortfall in covering core costs including website development, travel, and IT hardware. www.pioneersofchange.net

  • Extra Mural Education Project, South Africa - Aims to develop an extra-mural sector for poor, historically disadvantaged schools in South Africa's townships so they can grow into community hubs. The funds will be used to cover the vital activities of producing 3 year development plans for the demonstration schools.
